Hockey Night In Canada ( HNIC ) started in 1929; it's a Canadian institution for many  generations of families. My grandfather grew up listening to Foster Hewitt on radio. After HNIC's debut on television in 1952, watching a hockey game with his son on Saturday night became a family tradition that my Dad adopted.
